I have a gmail account and use Picasa Web Albums to store images. Here is how I post images using Picasa: *Remember that you have to be in the full Reply editor to do this. You can not do this in Quick Reply.First you must have the image uploaded to your web album (yes, I know that's obvious) Then click on that particular photo. On the right side of the screen, you will see If you don't see all of this, just click on "Link to this Photo" and it will appear. Then pick your options. This board should auto re-size images. I choose Original size in the dropdown box beside "Select size". And then I also check the box beside "Image only (no link)". This will just insert your image and not link back to your photo album when your image is clicked. Then select everything in the "Embed image" box. It will normally select all when you click in the box. You then right-click and choose copy. Now that you have your code, come back to the forum to your post. Click on the insert picture icon on your toolbar. It looks like a little picture.
This box will appear - Right-click in the "Image URL" box and choose Paste. Then click Insert Image.
Your image will appear
(Make sure you are in the Preview tab to see it) And that's all there is to using Picasa Web Albums to post images.

Is it possible to upload files? I have a bunch of Excel spreadsheets that do various things, one of them takes Latin and Greek roots and invents new words with them. Another makes up random character names, another random city names, another one really bad poetry, another one started as a Dr Who plot generator, but can be easily modified to generate prompts for other kinds of stories. All of them are easy to customize just by editing the vocabulary. I'm easily amused by pushing the [F9] key and getting random fresh ideas.

hmmm.... no, you can't upload things. But - if you have a place that you can link to, that would work. You could just post the link here. I don't know of any place to keep Excel files and link to since I have never tried that. I know that the Google version of Excel can be made into a public link and shared easily. I am very interested in seeing your Excel files. I can't imagine how you made them - so I would like to see! [I'm an intermediate Excel user who loves the program] Anyone who has more expertise on this subject. I think your files would be valuable to the forum wetdirt

I don't have a website and I can't think of one I can use. Maybe someone knows how to find a site to host files. I think there is such a thing, but I'm hazy on how they work.

You can use Dropbox. It has a share feature. I also am backing up my writing to Dropbox along with a couple of other places.

I highly recommend Dropbox. I have everything - EVERYthing - backed up to Dropbox. It's free. That one major reason. And they keep improving how well it works. That's the other reason :-)
Actually, it's only free up to a certain amount, so I will probably not take them up on their offer to be your central photo repository. My photo originals are large and numerous. But, leaving those out, the rest of my digital life barely makes a dent in the free package.

OK, I put the spreadsheets down in games, for lack of a better idea. Let me know if anything is broken. They all require you to allow macros on the workbook, except maybe one or two. Since Excel considers even a standard dropdown box a macro, it's hard to write a sheet that does anything fancy without at least one or two. The only evil in them is what you bring yourself*, far as I know.
