Well, I'll start this off. Amazed to win my first NaNo in June camp last
year. Spent July in NaNoEditMo with the one really great cabin mate
from June. (We decided to edit our June novels together to be able to
write a new one in August.) That novel is ready for beta (critiqued by
not-friends). If anyone wants to volunteer let me know. You can read a
synopsis on my camp page - though it's not quite what I ended up
writing, it is in the general ball park. I expect to publish the book
independently in the fall.
Won August camp with novel #2 (still a very, very rough & desperate for first rewrite).
Expected
to rebel & edit my August novel in November, but in the days before
NaNo started became engrossed in the research questions forum. Someone
there had started a thread on boarding schools. I got so fired up
answering those questions, I changed to writing my boarding school
memoir. Won with 60k, but the memory dump is less than half done. Either
I'm cutting A LOT, or this is more than one book. Actually, I know it
is enough for at least two: 1) suburban, mid-western family moves to
northern Nigeria, 2) two little, American girls are sent off alone to an
English boarding school.
Won in April with a 30,000 word goal
in a complete revamp & edit of a finished but really thin prequel to
my June 2012 novel. It's heftier now, but still not at the same level
as the June novel. I am rewriting June one more time to be the first
published instead of the second. Have to get that done this week so I am
free for July camp.
I intend to continue my boarding school
memoir in July - except my old August novel is tickling my brain. So
maybe I'll do some of both.
There. I've entered 4 times & won
4 times... I might have slacked off in April, but I didn't want to
break my record. Hope the same pressure keeps me writing in July.
