Has something lovely happened for you recently: Your kid got a scholarship? You found a perfectly ripe box of strawberries? The sun is shining in your window bathing your sleeping cats?
Large or small, post it here.

I got a job! Another part-time, temporary one (3 months), but in a field about which I am passionate. With my existing teaching I'll be employed 1/2 time to full time. Feels go-o-o-o-o-d.

Well, as with most change, my Good News is equal measures wonderful and uncomfortable. We've moved across the country, from Albuquerque to Minneapolis, in pursuit of happier jobs and more beautiful landscape. And we're in the middle of that rite of passage named "Buying Your First House." So my days are full of hope, happiness, snow blindness, street confusion, pride of place and new friends (mostly real estate agents and relatives).
It should make Camp interesting.

Hey, we're neighbors. I live in Hugo, just north of St Paul. Minnesota is awesome! Well, unless you were here for the past two months. That cold snap was killer. Welcome to the land of 10,000 (actually way more) lakes!

Pretty much. Bloomington is HUGE. Hugo is what used to be a small town, turning into an exurb. But still with a small-town air. Along with the good (close, trusting, know each other) and the bad (can you say red neck?) that comes along with it. It's my maternal family's home for generations, so I have lots of relatives here. But I'm totally not a redneck. In fact, I've looked at your Twitter and I believe we share politics in common.

Oh, dear. I shall let dictionary.com do the honors. redneck red·neck [red-nek] Often Disparaging. noun 1. an uneducated white farm laborer, especially from the South. 2. a bigot or reactionary, especially from the rural working class. adjective 3. Also, red-necked. narrow, prejudiced, or reactionary: a redneck attitude. Synonyms: biased, narrow-minded, intolerant. Antonyms: fair-minded, open-minded, broad-minded, tolerant, unbiased, impartial. The term "redneck" grew from the fact that on many people considered "rednecks", the back of their necks were sunburned from working outdoors.

Oh. I thought it was either a type of deer or fish or maybe a derogatory term for fans of a certain sport or something. Thank you for clarifying, Boom!

Oh. I thought it was either a type of deer or fish or maybe a derogatory term for fans of a certain sport or something. Thank you for clarifying, Boom! You know that show - wait, Jeff Foxworthy. No, cuz if you knew who that was, you'd know redneck. Boom's def was right on spot. Only picture (not in MN but in the south) rusty pickup trucks with confederate flags for the rear window, with a rifle on a rack. Chewing tobacco. Prejudiced against everyone. Not too intelligent, but not too nice. Rednecks up here are not so bad as all that, more lumberjack looking and somewhat prejudiced (I never know for sure how much so because my children are black so they don't act that way in front of me - which says something for them I guess). Course, most of the rednecks I know up here are my cousins, so... I was raised in a different, upper-middle-class suburb so the people here amuse me, as long as they aren't being mean to my kids.

maybe a derogatory term for fans of a certain sport or something. Some might say NASCAR. (or almost anything involving liquor and or weaponry)

HA! Today I won the rota lottery and I DON'T have to work on Easter holidays. *happy dance* The team has been arguing about that date for the last two weeks. Mostly, because this year unfortunately the Roman-Catholic Easter and the Russian-Orthodox Easter are on the same day. Since I'm working in a mixed Ukrainian and Russian team with some added Georgia (the one in Europe) the orthodox festivities are always important for the rota. At first, our planner naturally wrote me in, but I stood up and demanded lottery drawing, because I do have a private life and a family with small kids, too, and I refused to be discriminated just because I'm not orthodox. I drew Pentecost, which is quite ok with me. Actually, after the lottery everybody was ok with the results minus one Ukrainian who got Easter Saturday. She'll get over it, I hope.

Congrats, Sil!
Good news for me? Hmm, well, I found a job I want to apply for. Pays more than what I'm making now. Not that I'll get it, but I've been looking for a while and up till now, there has been absolutely NOTHING I could do. Maybe that's a good sign?

I'm glad you found something you can do. We're cheering your application. I've been looking for several years (in-between bouts of massive discouragement). I just got my second lte. Only a few months (again), but at least it helps me feel employable.
