This is the second year Jim C. Hines has compiled essays about the representation - or lack of - in science fiction/fantasy. I read all the essays last year and those published this year, too, and there are some really thought-provoking ideas, along with some good books to read. Might provide some inspiration. I know it has for me! And this year, I was honored that he linked to one of my essays, too. SF/F Representation

Nice. I'd read you blog before - well written as always. I read the one on asexual because I have an asexual character(s) in my story. Now I'm worried about that character. lol. Well, I shall power ahead. He/she can't be changed.

I didn't read them all, but there was definitely good stuff there. Congrats, Lib. I have to admit being a bit surprised by your blog post, though. Especially as a kid, I always thought scars were really cool (so did almost all of the other kids I knew). Scars came with stories; they proved a person had done or experienced something, often uncommon. They were like rites of passage. But maybe I was just lucky (?) to grow up around people who usually had plenty of their own scars.

Ya, I always wanted more scars. My knees are still a mess of scars from when I was young.
