The way I write is a little different than some people. I write as much as I can for ten minutes then take a ten minute break. I find I am more productive this way. Anyone write this way?

I probably need to do that. In fact, I bought a book about that "The Coffee Break Screenwriter". I am very ADD. My attention span when I write is like a gnat - as with certain other things. Ironically, I can concentrate for hours on a computer game, which is very typical of ADD folk.

Wow, you must be quite skilled. I need ten minutes alone to get back into the story and find the 'voice' of the character I'm writing. Found out, that I'm more of a regular writer. I'm doing about 45 to 90 minutes straight - mostly in the morning before the day has started - and then I'll do something else. This schedule I follow every day, and gradually something readable comes out of it. But if I got a sudden idea, and there's time to pursue it, I might be off into the story for hours, riding the flow. ^^ (Once when I was younger I did a complete novella this way on one day, wrote for about 7 hours, then realised I should get something to drink. That story still needs editing.)

The short bursts followed by short breaks method suits me best, but I can't always do that because I have to share the computer with the family and for some strange reason they don't seem too keen on being constantly asked to move.
But when I can do it, I find the word count really mounts up, much more so than sitting down for one long session.

Another thing you can do, which is generally kind of the same, is write during commercial breaks. You get some television time and you're writing too!
