There were so many good responses to the daily ramble forum about fighting space pirates that I was inspired to pick your brains for one of my science fiction problems. I have my character use various tools but I'm having troubles naming them:

Interface/Locator - future version of iphone, it has a locator, system access, maps, stores data not located in personal id-chips
Vid-feed - spy camera attached to expandable telescoping snake feeder
Something like a futuristic swiss pocket knife with all the attachments and tools - called pocketknife for now

Only sky vehicles exist, other than boring sky-car, air-car, and transport I'm stumped on names. I don't want to use glider as they have engines. Spacecraft are for space travel. I need to distinguish between the Planetbound vehicles and those that can travel off planet.

By the way, IRL the oil companies use a tool, which crawls down oil pipelines and take pictures, called a pig.

multitool==> multy, fixit, ute, Yoot

car: speeder, flier, pegasus==>peg, bird, lift (LOL)

Maybe Simple is the answer:

thing that's reminiscent of a phone = "phone". Even if it's no longer something you make calls on, there's no real reason folks would stop calling it that. Especially if there's another name for whatever you DO make calls on. Or "pda", which is what they were called before Apple stuck a phone in.

sky cars (especially since you seem not to have cars on roads any longer) = "car". The first time it takes off and flies, the reader will understand.

pocket knife = "multitool". That's what they already call those.

snakey camera = "snake camera" or "snake cam". That's what they already call those.
