Oh, and I am stealing this camping bread idea! We are going to Lake George in 2 weeks, and I'm always looking for creative things we can cook other than hotdogs and burgers. (we have french toast, banana boats, and bison burgers on the menu so far.)

I just started CampNaNoWriMo this year and I won both April and July. My goal was set at 15,000 for July.

Ya, I feel like a cheater, though. Can't say my editing really deserved a 10,000 word count, but hey, I'll take it.
Congrats to everyone else, though! Terrific job.

I think this July was the most successful season until now for our group, don't you agree? That was one of the best cabins EVER.

Absolutely. Meeting random people in a cabin was interesting at times, but most of the cabins never did anything. For results, I think it helped a huge amount just being able to hang out with people we know, trust, believe in, and that, well, show up. So many of the old cabins were like ghost towns.

I feel very proud of my final word count (24k). I didn't think I'd even pass 10k early one. You guys are the best.

I liked the private cabin, too. When you have a bunch of strangers, it always takes time to get to know them, and with only a month to write, that takes up a good chunk of camp. Much easier when you know everybody - or almost everybody.

Of course, if it hadn't been for looking for cabin mates the old way, we wouldn't have met each other. Of course, that is still an option for people who don't have a group.
However, even if you did get a group together, it was so hard to organize and hit or miss if it worked out. So much time was spent on that.

You can always troll for new connections - as I did in April - using Writer's Cramp as the carrot. A few new folks joined here, or became connections on Scribophile.
