Thank you everyone! My mother and I have been bouncing the idea around of writing a "family history" so that the next generation will understand the awesome stuff our family has done. They've been really instrumental in reviving many of the traditions in our community, and in creating the schools to help rebuild our language, so I think it's important that we preserve this. And my mother isn't getting any younger, so I think this may actually be what I work on for my next novel. Elena - That's the look I get when I'm trying to type as fast as I think

Dalaimama2, you and your mum must stop "bouncing the idea around" and get on it - and also preserve an archive of related family documentation. So few people write up family histories, or even preserve interesting family documents or write down memories. Your local archive would likely be very interested in having a copy of it too. I love family history and it's so frustrating to know that Mum and Granny threw out boxes of stuff, some of which very likely related to the Victorian rellies I'm most interested in, when they moved house in the 50s Mum "always meant" to write up the story of her war years spent as the guest of an amazing old lady in the States and I do wish she had. I remember quite a few of her stories of that time but many may have been lost.... and Mum became ill and died before she'd written more than a few lines. Fortunately my uncle has since written his own memoir and had it professionally produced in a small edition for family. Oh - and my name's Iolanthe from the operetta.

"That's the look I get when I'm trying to type as fast as I think." LOL, dalaimama! If only I could type that fast, I'd have a whole novel done in a couple days. As for my name, Lib is short for Libby which is short for Elizabeth. I'm getting shorter all the time! But in real life, I'm tall. Ironic, isn't it? I also seem to be good at short writing. In the writing classes I've taken, I always turned in the shortest stories. Going to have to find a way to write longer if I expect to ever get a novel finished.

When I string together lots of shorts, all I get is a full clothesline.

On Nano I'm knittinjen just in case we ever meet up there. That's my name on pretty much the whole internet, but since Jennifer was available here, I decided to just use that. It's not usually available. And yes, I love to knit.

My Nano name is Lokanya.
Its actually a character name which was based on the ancient gods being real, but from another universe. It was suggest that I play the character Loki but I wanted to put a spin on it. Thus I made a female version and took the name Lokanya.

I only ask because my daughter does - it looks totally amazing on her.

Thanks, I went with the blue hair because my main character of my novel series has blue hair. (Though she's technically not in this particular novel, but oh well.) I actually have had blue hair before. (Well, it was blue-black, but still way cool) Usually I go with red streaks now that my hair is really long and buying four bottles of hair dye is pretty expensive.

Heh, yeah, my daughter's hair is long and THICK so hers takes 3 bottles. I just had the brilliant idea of straightening her hair before dying it next time (she's black so her hair is tightly curly - takes FOREVER). I want to dye my hair lime green, but my oldest daughter (25 tomorrow) assures me that I'm too old and she would consider disowning me if I did. hehe I'm still totally considering it.

Maybe she'll allow you to do some streaks or perhaps just the tips. Heh heh It totally wanted to do my hair dark green when I was in my early twenties, but the only way to do so was the professional dye which was brutal expensive to pay a hairdresser to put in, thus I was stuck with boxed colours. (Though the black-purple looked sweet in my hair.

I bet. When I was in high school (back in the 80's this is) I knew the first girl in our area who had her hair professionally dyed blue. One of my friend's mom would not let her come out with us because "that girl Jennifer's with" had blue hair! Can you imagine? These days people have any color hair. I like that you don't have to do it professional now, there are so many colors available. Green streaks sound awesome. I'm known for green being my fave color. I should change my avatar eyes to green even tho mine are blue...

Well if I can't do it in real life I might as well do it in my avatar, right?

I have a feeling I'm going to dislike the fact that it keeps track of how many posts that you write. Oh well, if you can't be silly with other sci-fi/fantasy/horror writers than you'd may as well go back to English class! *shivers at the thought of college English Courses*

Ya, completely wonderful. I think I need to make it clear that no one owns this board. No one is paying for it, it is free and exactly for what you are using it for. The only thing would be if you start posting things that Proboards objects to (that mainly is talking about s e x - they don't allow e r o t i c a) or are unpleasant to someone else.
Normally, I would be jumping in here and chatting, too, but I've got real life things going on and any extra time I need to put to working on my WIP (work in progress).
I'll probably now get a note from Proboards - they have bots that check for certain words. "You can't fool us with those spaces!" lol. Take that, you bots!
