My nanoname is also my name & initials. r.elena.t - cause "elena" is my middle name. This site won't take periods in usernames so for some reason, I used DrT - from the nom de plum for my YA & kid books (also what I have kids in my classes call me)... Guess that is confusing.

I used to laugh to myself about an alter ego called BoomBoom LaRue, because I'm not one to let myself cavort with abandon in public. No one would ever say I'm staid or prim, lol lordy no, but just not a, well, a BoomBoom. When I signed up for NaNo, I said to myself "Time to throw caution to the wind". So here I am - BoomBoom.

My nick is one I've been using for years, it's what I do for a living- I'm a hydrogeologist - get it? wet dirt? and I can remember it. So far, I've run across one other WetDirt on the internet, and he's an offroad enthusiast whose last name is Mudd.
Nice to meet all of you.

Hey wetdirt, I started professional life as a paleobiologist, so several geo degrees.
I'm much the same BoomBoom. Late in life decided I needed to break out. Then when I turned 40 decided I was old enough to wear hats. I mean hats. A few years later I striped in a revue show in front of 500 people. I am so much NOT the boomboom type, but created an alter ego who could delight in, um, stripping & did it. Imagine this straight-laced, geeky scientist falling in love with lacy silk nothings. Then I jumped out of a plane in my later forties, followed by entering a monastery @ 50... which meant giving away all my hats & sexy underwear. So much for breaking out. Now I don't even wear jewelry.

My username on NaNo is Evuska, which is my name in Slovak. My paternal grandparents came from what is now Slovakia, so that is why I decided on it. Sometimes I'll even use my hubby's name in Polish which is his heritage. Then I end up Evuska Chruszcz. Now isn't that a mouth full? My confirmation name is Angela and most of my family call me either Ev or Ang. I answer to both. Actually I answer to just about anything if I know you!!

My nickname as a bartender was Bingocliff.
The reasoning was everytime I served a drink to a customer I would state Bingo (not knowing the customers name).

As for Thecliff, in my new life starting age 48 my first apartment I called 'The Cliff Chamber.' My first website I developed and registered on the Internet was thecliffchamber.com. And then when I began to write novels (works in progress) I decided to use author name of Thecliff Chamber (to go with my website).

I started online games a while ago and became known as Aqua. When you spend hours a day being called something, it becomes your alter ego. Ha. Aquarose was one of my private character names that I used to play solo. I used it as my Nano name to continue the privacy. Now I'd change it to Aquawrites, which is how I post in the writing community.

tom de plume is my nano name too. I chose the name because my real name is Tom and I am writing with a nom de plume. I know this was readily apparent to everyone, but I thought I would make it official.

Leepoutine - Bonjour! I'm from Quebec as well. Poutine really *IS* the food of the gods... Dalaimama - obviously a play on the Dalai Lama. My degree is in Religious Studies (NOT THEOLOGY!!! I feel the need to point this out) but this isn't why I picked it. When I was a young girl, my grandfather was a Turtle Clan sub chief in the Longhouse, and a well known Mohawk elder around here. When it was announced that the Dalai Lama would be coming to Montreal, everyone wondered if he would ask to meet with some of the elders. The Dalai requested my grandfather, which left him over the moon. He then promised that when he saw him, he would shake his hand and say "Hello, Dalai", after one of his favorite films (Hello, Dolly). He did, the Dalai laughed and everyone had a great time. They discussed the pain and suffering of Indigenous peoples in Canada, and the Dalai gave my grandfather great advice (and vice versa). I was too young to attend, so I never got to meet him, but this was one of those special stories that everyone loves to tell about my grandfather. So, the Dalai holds a very personal space in my heart because of my grandfather. I'm also a mom, and so, Dalai Mama seemed fitting

dalaimama - That is so unusual and wonderful at the same time, did you ever made it into a story?

Yes, that is a wonderful story! You could use it as a catalyst for something in a story.
