I Cat. I'm so glad you cam over. Where in Europe do you live? I'm in the tri-border area of the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany.

On your camp profile you mentioned you liked Preußler's Krabat as well as Alameddine's Hakawati, which are two of my (admittedly many) favourites, too. A couple of months ago I finally bought an original copy of Krabat (as a child I read it in translation, of course). Luckily it was the sort of bookshop - with its own shop cat - where they completely understood that sometimes you need to buy your favourite children's book even though you're in your forties.

I found this place thanks to r.elena.t after Camp NaNo put me into a cabin with people I have nothing in common with. The same happened to me. Not sure if the cabin sorting will work out in the end, so I'm glad there's this place to chat about writing.

Cat, we're neighbours. *waving at you from Northern Germany*
Hi Hayley! Nice to see you here. I hope you got your five posts together soon, then we'll all meet up in our very own Writer's Cramp Cabin Thread at the hangout.

Yay middle grade! We're building a quorum. May have to change divide the children/YA genre thread to give us kid writers our own space.

Hi all. Rob here. I found this group through an invite from r.elena.t on the NaNoWriMo forums. I signed up for NaNoWriMo 4 years ago but have yet to give the novel writing a go. Something about November...just doesn't work for me. So I was excited to see the "virtual camp." I've written screenplays and have self-published a business book on Amazon about e-Commerce that has done well, so I know I'm capable of finishing something. I'm at the point where the story in my head is now a fairly detailed outline, so I'm looking forward to diving in and putting words on the page.
So to all of you...a big HELLO and GOOD LUCK.

Howdy miaclinnea, continetalcat, Hayley and robmaybry. Welcome! I'm a little late to the party but howdy anway. Post 5 posts in the boards you can see and you will be able to access our April Cabin thread. It doesn't have to be an earthshattering post. You know, what book reading the the Book one or what games you play in the Games one, etc. Start a new thread if you like.
We have the 5 post rule to filter out some of the spam bots. Hope all of you are ready to rock in April! Sorry if you are in cabins that you relate to no one in. That can take a bit of the fun out of it. Throw yourself back in to the sort. It costs nothing and you can do it every day until you find someone to relate to.

Thanks for the welcome, boomboom. I'm going to check out the April Cabin thread, as I got skipped for the second time on Camp Nano - not sure if I will ever get another cabin on there.

I love that we have *two* cat icon people. I don't have a cat right now. :-( so I'll get my furry warm cuddle from you guys. (I do have a dog, but short hair & not a cuddler).

Lol. I was just thinking that if aliens came to the planet and tried to judge what the dominate species on Earth was based on forum avatars - I mean all forums, not just this one - they would think cats. Then they would think there was a subspecies of humans - that looked like anime characters.
Hard to type cause cat in lap. hehe.

Hi, I'm Jennifer. I got a link to this group from the Camp NaNoWriMo April forum boards, in a thread where we were looking for cabin mates. I'm all set up with my cabin and happy with it, but the post said this was a group of mostly (but not all) 40+ year olds writing. I'm 42, writing my first novel which is fantasy. I've just discovered Scrivener - amazing!! One random fact about me - when Google tells me a word is spelled wrong, I have to add it to the dictionary - I cannot stand those little red underlined words.

And I'm so-o-o-o glad we have more YA/middle grade writers here. My cabin mates are great (have to say that as they are all on Writer's Cramp, ) but it is true). Only it's lovely to talk with other kid lit writers.
